Victory or Defeat- How Movement Strategies Destinguish Fast Direction Changes from Cutting Maneuvers with High Injury Risk

چکیده
Cutting maneuvers (CM) are frequently executed in sports. This task is relevant as it is a key ability for team sports players (TSP) but also bears the risk of ACL tears. An analysis of the movement strategies (MS) and musculoskeletal loads (MSL) occurring during CMs could reveal factors for efficient CMs and major triggers governing the occurrence of ACL tears. This study investigated the MS and MSL during 90° CMs in 51 subjects with different sex and sportive background to analyze the variety of CM execution. Results indicate that sportive background and sex influences movement execution and MSL. Track and field athletes (TFA) had the same peak velocity as TSP, but produced it during the first step after the turn, whilst TSP kept speed by increased curve leaning. Females show higher knee adduction moments which increases the risk of injuries.

The Effect of Side-Cutting Maneuver with and without Anticipating an Increase of Risk Factors of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury: Lower Limbs Kinematic Analysis
Background and Aim: Lack of attention to biomechanical parameters during sports maneuvers, especially unpredictable maneuvers can be one of the reasons for athleteschr('39') injuries in sports fields. The aim of this study was to compare the kinematic parameters of the lower limb in side-cutting maneuver with and without anticipation in male football players. Methods: In the present quasi-exper...
متن کاملRotation and Braking Strategies to Perform a Successful Cutting Maneuver
This study aimed to reveal principle movement strategies during successful 90° cutting maneuvers (CMs). Investigation of the pelvis rotation angle showed that subjects mainly use two strategies: one with most of the 90° cutting angle already realized within the body rotation prior to the transition step or one with the rotation executed after transition. These different turning strategies also ...
متن کاملPattern Characterization of Running and Cutting Maneuvers in Relation to Non - contact ACL Injury
“The purpose of this project is to determine if a v i d e o b a s e d method of determining runto-cut style type is as accurate as the pattern determined through the kinetic method.” Non-contact anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are common among both elite and recreational athletes. Research shows that such non-contact knee ligament injuries typically involve sudden changes in direction...

Objectives: Multiplicity of degrees of freedom in biological systems is the source of variability and indicates their health, flexibility, and their ability to cope with different individual, environmental, and task constraints. From nonlinear dynamical systems, their perspective of the variability of a system, can be quantified by measuring the movement pattern complexity. In this study the a...
متن کاملMechanics of cutting maneuvers by ostriches (Struthio camelus).
We studied the strategies used by cursorial bipeds (ostriches) to maneuver during running. Eight ostriches were induced to run along a trackway and execute turns. Ground reaction forces and three-dimensional kinematics of the body and leg joints were simultaneously recorded, allowing calculation of joint angles and quasi-static net joint torques. Sidesteps, where the leg on the outside of the t...
